02:11 pm - What to say Well, who knows what to say. Life is well, there right now. At least I can say I'm too busy to worry about situations at hand. I don't dwell on things anymore I should say. Life is going to screw me no matter what, so why worry about it right?
Enough said on that. I still haven't had the chance to work things out with CMT for full time work, but it is seeming like it will be a done deal eventually. I suppose this is good, I'll be out of town for two weeks, so switching jobs isn't really possible till I get back anyway. I'm hoping that it will go through in Sept. though, as I have way too much "Stupid" stuff on my plate at my current job. I'm not liking it at all. Especially El Blob whose been doing her best to take over glory of a multi-million dollar project that she refused to even lend a hand when I was building it. now that it is complete, and bringing in way over $10mil a year, she wants a part of the action (Hell, her projects bring in a total of $2 mil a year, and she has what, 10 Ecommerce sites in her charge?) Anyway. . . Bitter, nah. But have to report to her now, so I have to be friendly with her.
Not going to fly for much longer whether I get this job in Mt. View or not. I have no chance of a fair review from her (she even went so far as to tell me in a meeting that she would like to chop off my head, so she didn't have to deal with me). What the hell did I do to this lady? I know, I was the "Rival" developer until she got her "MBA in Ecommerce". Huh? Have you ever heard of that? Well, Ok, since she has an MBA, I started to ask her about TQM, and some testing procedures. I've never seen a blank stare like the one she gave me before. Umm... Ok, so what Did they teach her for her mail order MBA anyway? Sheesh... The sad part is? The CTO thinks she's god's gift to man kind and programming. She has never touched anything but Windows NT/2000. Thinks that SQL SErver Authentication is secure (Yes, our Ecommerce site uses SQL Server clear passwords and all). Um... What about our LDAP system that we've been using for everything else in the company for the past 5 years? IPlanet Ldap is a damn good authentication system. No, she doesn't want to learn a new technology. That's why she won't even allow .NET to be used.
I gotta get out of this place. I'm so sick of cleaning up her crap. She implemented SiteServer LDAP a few years back, against many strong protests by myself, our Security team, our I/T department, our Server Team, but no, she made the final decision. Well guess what? She implemented it on the servers that I have charge of. Now I'm stuck trying to support and move everyone out of that system into our regular LDAP. I hate support. It sucks. Especially when I saw this coming and was so against it! Ohh well. Tough I guess.
I'm off to a B-Day party tonight. Should be interesting.

02:09 pm - Ok, well, maybe I'll post some usefull stuff here too! Well, let's see here. Maybe I'll start journalling here, seeing as I'm not doing it elsewhere :) Soo. . . . On to life.
Lately, I've been a bit over busy. Working two jobs right now. Trying to get into the second job as a full time thing, so I sort of don't have a choise. Want to do the best I can there (CMT Ambulance Company in Mt. View). Great place to work, good atmosphere, and a start up at this point. Ok, well, sort of. See, the company has been around for a long while. I know lot's of people who have worked there, and for the longest time, the company had a really bad reputation (that was well deserved) of not paying it's employees. See, there was a lot of troubles the owner was going through, and he ended up filing for Bankrupcy. However. . .
My buddy now owns the company. He's been there for a year now. Since he arrived, the company has pulled out of Bankrupcy and turned a profit. Has great EMT's on staff and dispatchers, and fun people to work with in general. No one has gone without a Paycheck now since my buddy joined as CFO. Now, he's bought the company. They are in limbo though right now. Awaiting their Ambulance License to go through. Which means, they can't take calls at this point. Where do I fit in at an ambulance company you might ask?
Ahh.. now that's the bluff ain't it? Well, you see, I do ecommerce development. Theatre major, go fig. Well, I get to be the only person he knows that has any clue of what an NT or Win2K server is as well as SQL SErver and his Billing Software. Yikes, what am I getting into? Well, I've been building, rebuilding etc. SQL SErver machines for the past several days, and it's getting tiring, but good work I suppose. Let's see here. I'm hoping to slide my way in though as Business Manager. Killer!!!! Looks great on that resume!
Well, other news. The drive to Mt. View on an almost daily basis was killing me on gas. So, I gotta get my motorcycle up and runnign again. Yeah! Cousin' in law works on bikes. Give him some money, and I swear, the bike is like brand spankin' new. Beautiful. Now instead of costing me $12 or so just to do the round trip to Mt. View, it's down to about $4. I'm liking this a lot. I love my bike. It's so refreshing to ride it. There's nothing like riding down the road on it to completely clear your mind. It's so great when I do get a little under pressure, or down, whatever, and just ride. Who cares where I end up? It's cheap to ride, and just refreshing.
Anyway, I have many more meetings to do today. Just needed to take a break and breathe a bit!
Later (I know, no one really reads my journal anyway, but if you do, Hi!) Current Mood: exhausted
